[Open Mic Online]
Attention all Rice Students! The Open Mic Online blog is open for business! We accept all kinds of creative work, including but not limited to: short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art, dramatic readings, performances, short movies, songs, and reviews. You can send us anything, at any time of the year.
Our goal is to spotlight the creative works of Rice students, everybody is welcome here! We want to highlight works that can grab people’s attention and run with it.
We also have monthly prompts, which you can find below, for those that want a little bit of inspiration. And head to our Explore page to check out previously featured Open Mic Online submissions!

Current prompt:
This semester has quite literally zoomed by, and, with the great Owl migration well underway, we want to hear about your nest back home. For December and January, we’re looking for poems, photography, and artwork featuring the view from your bedroom window. From snow-covered boughs to a noisy squirrel clan, we want to know what you see when you look outside!
Do you have more than three windows in your bedroom? If so, good for you! But please keep it to no more than three submissions per creator, and submit your work before January 16th for a chance to be featured on our blog!
Fun fact: there are no windows where the R2 staff feverishly reviews your lovely submissions. So please tell us: what’s it like out there?
